: Paul Fox Collective
The Paul Fox Collective is the project of Luxembourg drummer Paul Fox, considered as one of the most sought-after drummers in the young Benelux jazz scene. Paul Fox studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels and at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim before attending private courses in New York with, inter alia, Kendrick Scott, John Riley, Gregory Hutchinson, Bill Stewart and Ari Hoenig.
The music of the Paul Fox Collective is a fresh blend of wonderfully balanced and high-quality European sonic jazz. Usually performing in the form of a quintet with sax/guitar frontline and rhythm section, the band is occasionally extended to include the wonderful vocalist Stephanie Neigel. In his compositions, Paul Fox values and honours the jazz tradition, while simultaneously creating a contemporary, updated context for a ‘down-to-earth and honest’ jazz.
In 2011, Paul and his Collective published their first album „Submerging & Emerging" on the German label Jazz'n'Arts. In 2015, they released a second disc „Breaking the Silence" on the American label Odradek Records, documenting the new facets and colours to their sounds. Paul strives for his music to be as approachable as possible to any listener, with melodic and singable themes. “Breaking the Silence” is dedicated to that fleeting moment of silence, so full of positive energy, just before the start of a song.
