Christoph Sietzen is one of the leading percussionists of his generation. He was finalist and 3rd prize-winner at the 63rd ARD Music Competition in Munich and is lecturer at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna aged only 22.

Born in Salzburg in 1992, the Luxembourgeoise Christoph Sietzen studied Marimba with Bogdan Bacanu and Percussion with Leonhard Schmidinger and Josef Gumpinger at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz, where he received his Master diploma with highest degrees. Before that he was enrolled in prestudies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Martin Grubinger sen. (with who he started learning percussion aged 6) and on his second instrument with Prof. Christine Hoock. In addition to his studies in Linz he was teached on the harpsichord by Prof. Jörg Halubek focusing on baroque music.

Till age 13 he won ten first and numerous special prizes at the Prima la Musica Competition, the Raiffeisen Klassik Preis given by the University Mozarteum including a special prize for outstanding accomplishments and was an award winner of the International Summer Academy Mozarteum aged 12, where he played as the youngest in the final concert in the frame of Salzburg Festival, which was recorded and broadcasted by Austrian radio station „Ö1“. In the following year he was finalist and third prize winner at the International Marimba Competition Linz 2006, where he was also able to clinch the Yamaha Audience Award. In 2013 he won the „Nibelungenpreis des Lions-Clubs Linz“ and was listed at the talent-forum of the radio station „Ö1“. At the 63rd International ARD Music competition he was finalist and 3rd prize-winner.

His touring schedule has taken him all across Europe as well as to Japan and China with well-known artists like Bogdan Bacanu, Peter Sadlo, Martin Grubinger, Emmanuel Sejourne and Momoko Kamiya. 

He gave masterclasses in Austria, Japan, China, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Holland, f.e. at the Int. Summeracademy Mozarteum Salzburg or the Tokio College of Music. Composers like Alexander Mullenbach or Thomas Heinisch have written pieces dedicated to him.

His solo debut CD was published by the german Label Genuin classics in 2016.

: The Wave Quartet
 

He is a member of The Wave Quartet, founded by Bogdan Bacanu, which debuted at the Konzerthaus Berlin in 2008. Further concerts and master classes have taken the quartet to many countries all across Europe as well as to Asia, where the rather unusual ensemble was immediately given an enthusiastic reception by audiences. ?

The quartet’s 4th CD was released at the German label Genuin classics in spring 2016.
